Happy New Year! 2018 is off and running and we've made resolutions and goals we are going to stick to. Nothing is going to stop us from accomplishing that goal of losing 10lbs, going to the gym 3 times a week, cleaning the house every day, staying on top of laundry, spending quality time with your partner, being more patient with the kids...
Sound familiar? Perhaps these are similar to your 2017 goals. Hmm...
Whether it's cleaning house, keeping things tidy or cleaning up your busy schedule, here are some tips to help set and keep your new year's cleaning resolutions.
Out With the Old...
It's a new year, and what better way to say good-bye to 2017 than getting rid of clutter.
Look through closets, junk drawers, toy chests and donate what you can to your favorite charity.
Go through old papers, and collections of magazines, books etc. Give what you can away and recycle the rest.
Take inspiration from online sites such as Pinterest to create keepsakes of your favorite t-shirts, greetings cards etc. to modify your collection of things.
Set a cleaning schedule…
Cleaning doesn't have to be an all day, weekend task. Look at what small cleaning task you can accomplish on a day-to-day
Here are some ideas to get you started:
- Mondays - Sink and Tub Day
- Tuesdays - Clean All Toilets
- Wednesday - Bed Sheets
- Thursday - Clutter Clean-Up
- Friday - Sweep and Mop
Double Up…
Spare yourself the headache of chasing down cleaning products. Keep a set of Better Life products on each floor to negate having to look for them all over the house. General products we recommend keeping on hand:
- Filth-Fighting All-Purpose Cleaner
- Dirt-Destroying Floor Cleaner
- Smudge-Smacking Glass Cleaner
- Throne-Tidying Toilet Bowl Cleaner
Simplify Your Life...
Everyone has a busy schedule. Simplifying things helps to alleviate stress and overwhelmingness. Do this by limiting extracurricular activities to two at one time for every family member. This helps everyone enjoy their hobbies, while still being able to maintain family time.
Take time out for yourself...
Self-care is super important these days. Make time for you at least twice a week. If possible, try to schedule an hour a day where you can relax in the tub, meditate, do yoga or work out.
Happy Cleaning and Happy New Year!
