Winners and excuses…

Friday, June 25th, 2010

First! The Winners:

Our Einshine winners are Jenny, Jennifer, and Sharon! Congrats guys! Let us know how you like the stuff. Take some pictures and I’ll hand over the blog to you for a day.

And Second! The Excuses:

My plan for the blog has been to post twice a week. On Whatever Wednesday and then either Monday or Friday about one thing or another.  That is kind of sliding off course and will probably do so for a few more weeks.  You see, I’m back in college finishing up my degree and I’m smack in the middle of a short 8 week session trying to cram 6 more credit hours in before the final Frowzy makes his appearance at the end of August.  So, for the next 4 weeks my homework is just going to have to take precedence. I’ll still be posting, just not as diligently as I had planned.

Soooooo…if anyone wants to guest post their favorite Better Life experiences…seriously. email me.

Kevin and Tim were interviewed by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on an article discussing the next steps the FTC may take to address the abundance of greenwashing currently in the marketplace.  The article as well as a picture of Tim and Kevin was featured on the front page of the business section on 5/16.

Whatever Wednesday (Warning. Graphic Content)

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

Whatever Wednesday is when we explore all the different ways that Whatever spray can be used around the house. It is an amazingly versatile little workhorse and because it is so safe and friendly, the uses are endless. If you’d like to share the unique ways you use Whatever in your life, post a link in the comments or email me and tell me about it.

This cuteypants’s little face is not a bad way to wake up from a nap.

That is of course unless she is saying those dreaded 6 little words. And not, “Mommy, the house is on fire.” or “Mommy, I mailed Eleanor to Ecuador.” but, “Mommy, Humphrey pooped in the house.” Because, the only reason Humphrey poops in the house is if he is having tummy troubles. And a 160lb dog with tummy troubles…well, let’s just say it’s even worse than you are imagining.  So, here is a little patch that resulted from Humphrey’s tummy troubles.

It smells as bad as it looks.

After cleaning up the, well more solid stuff, I then sprayed the area with Whatever and using a wet rag and bucket of water I cleaned up the rest. Then I went back and sprayed the area again and went over it again with a new wet rag. To be sure it was all clean, I stuck my sensitive little pregnant-lady nose down to the rug and we were good.

problem with poop? whatever.

Humphrey is now resting comfortably.

Yes, the rug we use in the Family Room is extremely utilitarian. We learned that lesson with a “nice” rug a long time ago. But, I have used Whatever on our “nice” wool rug in the dining room with no problems. Of course, you should test in a small inconspicuous place first before covering a Humphrey sized area.

Spring Cleaning Playlist 2010

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

To me Spring cleaning is an opportunity to clean out the clutter of a long winter and start new.  Equally important it is an opportunity to get everyone out of the house and crank up some tunes at serious volume levels.  Here’s my playlist for this year.  Forgive the commentary…..

  • Float On (Modest Mouse) — a sure fire cure for whatever ails ya
  • Island In The Sun (Weezer) — get into the zone
  • Us and Them (Easy Star All-Stars) — stay in the zone with this great remake of a classic
  • 2 Kool 2 Be 4-Gotten (Lucinda Williams) — a genius at blending gritty music and great story telling
  • Fake Plastic Trees (Radiohead) — favorite song by favorite band
  • Last Goodbye (Jeff Buckley) — indeed
  • I Believe (REM) — whenever i start to doubt myself i play this
  • The Funeral (Band of Horses) — epic
  • Sympathy for the Devil (Rolling Stones) — more epic
  • Groove Me (King Floyd) — 1970 new orleans funk
  • Michigan (Ambulance Ltd) — why did these guys stop making music?
  • The Underdog (Spoon) — dance with that vacuum
  • The Pretender (Foo Fighters) — rock it!!!!
  • Blue (Jayhawks) — good memories…..
  • The Guide (Borne) — if i could put my feelings about my kids into a 3 min song, this would be it.
  • Happy Everafter in Your Eyes (Ben Harper) — love this

Hope you enjoy!
